Honestly I have never wanted to speak french, live in France as much as I have now seeing the trailer and snippet of "Un monstre à Paris"
What is this you ask?

Well let me illuminate this amazing film.

Paris,1910. Emile, a shy movie projectionist, and Raoul, a colorful inventor, find themselves embarked on the hunt for a monster terrorizing citizens. They join forces with Lucille, the big-hearted star of the Bird of Paradise cabaret, an eccentric scientist and his irascible monkey to save the monster, who turns out to be an over sized but harmless flea, from the city's ruthlessly ambitious police chief

Eh? Ehhhh!? You can't be serious can you Rachel? Indeed I can and will! This is amazing! I want to own it. The designs are beautiful and capture all who wish to watch. The music is the baseline and the animation pushes it forwards.

Here is the musical snippet along with the trailer. Both in French and no subtitles but so worth it. So can I get some feedback? WOULD YOU WANT THIS!?

PPS - Within ten minutes pushed this out. Hehe...had to do it. The music makes me want to dance.

Indeed, I have holed myself up for a long time playing Dragon Age 2, one of my favourite games created by Bioware, coming in a close second to Mass Effect. Now at first I was a little peeved off with how the options became limited from three different races and three to four different options within that to three options and you had to be human...but my imagination got the better of me and I fell in love with the story as well as the designs. Qunari are my new obsession so expect some drawings of them shortly. However here is my character Ruth Hawke, a warrior -Tank class who defeated the Arishok with a single blow to cut off his head. Not a pretty woman but boy does she know how to party.

Honestly. I am, I was so determined to post regularly and then work was all like 'let's boost your work to nine hour shifts.' I like the money, but besides that and sleeping, doodling in sketch book and no working scanner...screw it, making excuses won't cut it. Here is a cleaned up sketch of a style I was working on. Indeed, I should realise that perhaps my life might be better...influenced by my peers and other respected followers by letting them see actual work I do rather than hiding it away on my computer and crying to myself in wondering what is wrong with it. From now on I am posting at least twice a week with my own stuff. Or more.

So here it is my friends. My first shitty drawing for the...month? I shall say this is April although it is still about 9pm March 31st...WHATEVER! Tell me what you think? Have I improved? What shall you give me in wisdom and kick the crap out of it so I might improve.

Now, not saying that I don't admire Tim Burton but really, he ain't got nothing when going up against American Mcgees' Alice. This man is a pure genius in making the horrible, twisted version of Alice in Wonderland into a kick ass game. I adored the first one although at the time the graphics would have been called poor, something about a knife wielding Alice, bloody cards and a twisted Cheshire cat just...reeled me in.

After many years it is finally revealed that the new game; Alice: Madness Returns is going to be released which makes me tickled pink. The story continues from the first. Alice had been put into an insane asylum due to her parents death in the house fire, her wonderland is her sickness, she kills the red queen to save not only herself; mentally, but the rest of wonderland...and so she leaves the asylum free of insanity...or so we thought.

Returning to the streets of London, it is clear that Alice has started to regress back to her old ways. Memories blurring reality with her imagination...which soon calls upon the wonderland to return. Here are two of the trailer teasers that make me giggle with glee...gotta love the 3D animation. Enjoy!!!

Happy Tree Friends - So cute it hurts...literally

I've always been impressed with Happy Tree Friends, for not only surviving as an Internet cartoon but gaining enough hype to become a well known cartoon on tv as well. For a short period of time. This small clippet of my favourite character, is a tale of a Buddhist monkey in a library...seriously kicks ass.

Hey y'all,

Like all normal people I was looking through the internet for inspiration and something catchy to watch and at Newgrounds a breaking out artist posted this as their first animation. It is friggin' awesome. I love the over the top mouth movements, the constant change of style and the way the dress shimmers. Plus it makes fun of Mariah Carey and I am down with that. Heh, I do not own the rights to this, they belong to lovely creator, Fourdegrees on newgrounds. However I decided to post it up here to get to see what you guys think.

Indeed my friends,

It seems as time goes on and on, the music and creations of Jamie Hewlett are only making me more and more jealous. Aha. This is a live video of the song "Doncamatic feat. Daley" it is amazing as the man is clearly talented and I hated to admit the first time I had heard the song I thought Daley was a woman...but he is a man, a very talented and vocally confusing male. Hehe. This was in Pheonix Arizona...awesome.

I would also like to add more information. No, you wouldn't think I would post a Gorillaz post without some form or animation or temptation? This is the trailer sneak peak for this very song. Thirty seconds but with a nice glimpse of 2D on the monitor it is clear the story of the 'Plastic Beach' continues. I love how animation and real life can be put together so beautifully now...le sigh. If only it was real. Eight more days until the whole video is released! Whoooo!

Animation Update Colour Choice?

Although it seems that I like to keep everything hush, hush, I thought it would be great to get some comments on what background seems better. As even with my animation the feel is not coming through yet until I have the colour backgrounds completed. Although I do have a lot done of them, I have two versions, one a minimalist to show off the main two characters and the other filled with...a more dulled down colour sheet. Tell me what you think!

So here they are...I must admit I am more leaning towards the first one with the hues of white and black simply because it makes everything seem...so barren. I don't know really.

Summer Wars Review

Well what can we say about a Japanese Anime that talks about love, battle, hardships and awesome boat scenes? THAT IT ROCKS!

Summer Wars, one of the newest films released by the Studio Mad House [Girl Who Lept Through Time, Perfect Blue, Millennium Actress and the TV series Paranoia Agent] have once more hit it right on the mark.

The story is based upon the life of a mild mannered, mathematics Olympic 'almost' champion Kenji Koiso, his summer job only beginning to start with working in 'OZ' an online world of potential, shopping, fighting, living, it is everything to millions around the world as all have an account. It is not until his dream girl Natsuki Shinohara appears to ask him if he wants a summer job...obviously, red faced and happy he accepts...that is until he finds out he has to pretend to be her boyfriend and future husband. [You'd think he'd be happy]

From there he is thrust into the large and very old heritage of the Jinnouchi family, their lives a filled with interesting people and perspective. Only with this comes OZ and a deadly threat known as the 'Love Machine'. Destroying everything in its part within OZ, this character starts to toy with the world. Is it playing one big game?

Well you have to see for yourself.

Personally, I loved this film. The animation was perfect when it came to animating the Japanese reactions, nose bleeds were a must along with tons of sweat. A beautiful friendship between the 2D and 3D made this an experience I shall not forget soon. Action, adventure, drama, love, it really does have it all...along with a kick ass villain.

So I give it ten fingers of approval. It is a movie not to miss so quickly see it if you can.

That's right kiddies. The newly released trailer for the third installment of Bioshock does not take place in Rapture any longer but Columbia, A floating city in the sky that is literally falling.

It seems to be just as interested as Rapture but with a more American moral induced, Uncle Sam feel. Gosh I am looking forwards to it. Released in 2012 apparently I am eagerly waiting for it.

The 3D animation is stunning, once more like Bioshock 2, it is clear that the people at 2K games really know their stuff and know how to pull you in. It gives me a reason to indulge in 3D more often. It is beautiful...Ahem.

Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva

As most of you know there are some games that are just begging to be made into actual movies. The Professor Layton series is one of those timeless Japanese animated cartoons that I consider to be one. Although not released until late September to October this year for England and perhaps Australia. Professor Layton and his trusty, self-proclaimed assistant Luke are about to embark on a adventure, solving the mysteries and puzzles of eternal life! WHEE!

Ahem...

It is a wonderful design and when I played the games that were released in English for the Nintendo DS, the short snippets of animation splashed in were the highlight of the games, not to mention the puzzles that had me staring at my small screen for hours going 'WHY DOES IT MATTER HOW OLD THE GIRL IS? IT'S HER BIRTHDAY!!!' It is a fantastic series and I look forwards to seeing it released in English. Although already out in Singapore since March 18th, there has only been the Japanese release, and there is little chance of finding it with the correct subtitles...so I shall patiently wait and watch with glee.

It is one of those under appreciated films that I adore. I remember watching this as a kid and well, Mok scared the crap out of me. It is about a futuristic world where the human race died out while animals like mice, dogs, cats, rats all that jazz survived, mutated into human forms...sort of.

A band trying to make it big only to be spotted by a man who is the most famous star in the world, but something isn't right...why would he focus on one band member only? The lovely Angel holds the power to release a demon from another dimension with her voice and Mok wants it...

It is a movie that you must check out! But for now here is the clubbing scene which I enjoy the most. Oh, got to love the big boned Cinderella!

Toy Story 3

Hi ya'll,

I totally forgot to post up my review of Toy Story 3 which I saw with Cassie a few days ago. If one word could sum up this movie it would AMAZING, seriously...

From start to finish this movie holds your interest through plot development, drama and of course comedy. It starts off with re-introducing you to the main characters, they toys and Andy who has to make the touch decision of what he is going to do with his toys. Now it is a sad moment, to see him decide which to keep and which to leave but this is where the story truly begins...

From their lives at home to the slightly less sunny Sunnyside daycare. The plot thickens as all may not be what it seems. It makes you laugh and feel for the toys which also introduces new characters. Indeed it is a delight to see how toys may feel after being handled by a young child...it hurts.

From then on it is a constant battle to escape Sunnyside which results in a Spanish Buzz, don't ask, just watch and you shall understand. For me Spanish Buzz was the highlight, something about his graceful movements, and over dramatic play outs of what he sees makes me chuckle every time. The dance scene between him and Jessie...well with just him in the beginning made me kack myself. It is perfect and it is definitely something to remember.

This movie is one that Pixar should be proud of. Once more they have added another to my DVD list and have kept my childhood movie from being raped. Eleven years was worth the wait. It was a pleasure to watch and if you have not seen it already then GET GOING! It was a perfect sequal-sequal, it did not overstep its boundaries and ended with a ending that made me feel that the story had come to its closing perfectly.

Ten frickin' stars out of ten.

Well going to follow my love of Don Bluth I watched the only prequel/sequel he ever created with something he had done. Bartok the Magnificent was the small bat from the famous movie 'Anastasia' and my personal favorite villain Ludmilla was so kick ass. This song was brilliant and the transition is fabulous. Enjoy!

Seriously, I have been impressed the with the sudden leap forwards in gaming animation. The 3D work is something to be admired in itself, even if it is only a cut scene...this is amazing. Like the opening for Left4Dead 2 I was blown away by the facial animation and in this, the small clip for the add on 'The Passing' it only adds to my growing love.

NO MICHAEL NOT AGAIN!

Three posts in one day I know, I am insane but it is just because I wanted to share something with you all. I was absolutely shocked when I heard there was going to be a remake of the A Nightmare on Elm Street. Now this is fine, I usually don't mind seeing a remake because sometimes it improves...BUT, when you have friggin' Michael Bay...yes, that is right MICHAEL FRIGGIN' BAY as the producer it can only mean one thing...explosions and random fighting scenes since he ran out of plot line. Now...before you get all up me saying it won't be that bad, maybe I will be wrong but let me remind you of Transformers 2 and now he is making the third.

But there are highlights that save this rising disaster. Jackie Earle Haley will be taking on the role of Freddy Kruger himself. I liked him as the masked anti-hero Rorschach so there is a plus to it; however I am still a Robert Englund fan to the end. With new effects and the advancements in 3D might improve the slaying, after seeing many new remakes one can only assume that it will either be regarded as a good slasher film or go down hill with too many effects making it seem tacky and boring. I hope that it will be the former as I will be in line waiting to see this beauty when it is released in 2010. So there is my little rant of the day. Princess Tutu; Best ballet anime I have ever seen

I have not really expressed my love for anime mostly because I can not find anything that has visually moved me. However, I have always held a spot from Princess Tutu. It is a interesting animation about ballet and fighting in the form of twirls and jumps. It is so sweet that I watched and read the entire series. Here is a clip where Ahiru [Princess Tutu] dances the pas de deux by herself. Like holy crap! That is awesome since it is for two people, she shows great emotion and I love it.

I found this animation to be the most awesomest thing ever! It is about a man who becomes a woman, who in the end dominates the world. Have a look, it is good for a laugh and the movement in the walking scenes is beautifully done in my opinion.

Welcome!,

This is my first blog for my animation course. This is all exciting and I am over the moon with joy. It is all new to me and I hope that with this blog my lifestyle and dedication to art continues to flourish. I am enjoying my first introductory class in animation but I was a little nervous on how to react to all the other artists. They all show great skill which I fear I may not be up to the par but...I will work hard and hope to improve my skills and show the drawing world that I can become an acomplished animator.

Well,

In class with Frank, watching 3D animation on Gobelins.com it is a interesting sight. My favorite, despite not being a 3D animation is Pyrats. I love Pirates so this just made my day. The animation is so far out, I wish I was that good in animation but ah well, I shall try.
